SLS AMG

With its gull wing doors, the SLS AMG is a wonderful foray into the supercar market by Mercedes.

All about the performance

With a 6.3 litre V8 engine churning out 571bhp, powered through the dual clutch and 7 speed automatic transmission, the SLS AMG roars beautifully into life with the merest press on the pedal. With acceleration from standing to 60 in less than 4 seconds, the rear bias weight ratio gives it just enough lightness of steering to make things interesting, yet keeping it controlled and gripped.

All about the looks

From the outside, the lightweight aluminium SLS AMG has a certain 300 SL feel to it, exactly what Mercedes wanted. This lasts until those fabulous gull wing doors open of course. With its near six foot bonnet tapering to the imposing badge fronted grille, 19 inch front and 20 inch rear wheels, it looks stunning.

Inside too, the looks continue to deliver, evoking a cockpit feel and look with the layout, myriad of controls and angled styling. The seats are supportive and, made of magnesium, provide great strength with minimal weight.

All about the toys

As is to be expected, there are many, many toys to play with in the SLS AMG. All devices are controlled with the COMAND system, and there is a superb B&O CD stereo system, which might not be needed, such is the wonderful sound of the engine.

Practicalities and safety

It is a supercar, without doubt, but the SLS AMG provides practicality too. Again, the gull wing doors are ideal for ease of access, particularly in tight spaces. Eight airbags are available, the front ones of which can be adapted for the driver’s position.

A real driver’s car, the SLS AMG is designed to turn heads whether sitting behind the wheel, or admiring from afar. It does both exceptionally well.

Prodigious power for a perfect drive

Powered by its throaty 6.3 litre V8, the SLS AMG Coupe really delivers on the road. Accelerating from a standing start to 62mph in just 3.8 seconds, and with rapid gear change through the double clutch seven speed transmission, the leading edge electrics provide traction and power without any interruption.

An exquisitely exciting exterior

The gullwing doors dominate the SLS AMG, giving it iconic status, but its design goes far beyond this. With the styling moving from concave to convex, the impact upon all who behold it is simply unforgettable. The long nose is sensual, the wide track evocative; all combining to produce a statement that is dynamic and powerful.

An intimately inspiring interior

The same level of attention is given inside, where the design conspires to deliver a luxurious setting. Nappa and design leather and metal or carbon trim abound, all hand finished, to deliver a cockpit which is firmly rooted in Mercedes’ motorsport traditions.

Precise protection and proportions

Complete with all the latest gadgetry, the SLS AMG Coupe provides entertainment for the drive, through a complete media interface. Comfortably sitting two adults in the cabin, the gullwing doors offer exceptional practicality, as well as achingly beautiful looks. With driver assist systems, airbags throughout, and complete security systems, every last detail is underpinned with quality.

Simply put, the SLS AMG Coupe is a complete car for the complete driver. A genuine supercar, it provide the best experience on the road that its owners deserve.
